REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING, January 21, 2025

The regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of St. Croix Falls was called to order by Chairman Mike Dorsey at 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, at the Town Hall. Proper notice was given as the agenda was posted at the town hall and on the town’s website January 16, 2025. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. Present by roll call were chairman Mike Dorsey, supervisors Will Bergmann and Brent Priebe. Supervisor Jeremy Hall arrived at 6:56 p.m. Supervisor Katie Appel was absent. Also present were town clerk/treasurer Janet Krueger and public works employee Steve Jacobs.
Bergmann/Priebe moved to approve the agenda; motion carried. Bergmann/Priebe moved to approve the minutes as printed for the December 18, 2024, town board meeting; motion carried.
No public comment was had.
Committee, Commission and Employee Reports: Mr. Jacobs gave the highway report. Ms. Krueger presented the clerk/treasurer’s report. Priebe/Bergmann moved to approve payment of vouchers #24-332 through #24-343 in the amount of $13,656.04 and vouchers #25-001 through #25-022 in the amount of $303,973.32; motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote, 3-0. The building permit log was reviewed. There were no supervisor or chairman reports.
New Business: Bergmann/Priebe moved to adopt Resolution 25-01 setting the date for the Town’s Open Book on April 10, 2025, and setting the date for the Town’s Board of Review on April 30, 2025; motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote, 3-0.
Resolution 25-01
A RESOLUTION TO SET DATE, TIME, AND LOCATION OF OPEN BOOK AND BOARD OF REVIEW FOR THE TOWN OF ST. CROIX FALLS
WHEREAS Wisconsin Statute 70.45 requires the Town to have the assessment roll open for examination by the public; and that the assessor shall be present for at least two (2) hours while the assessment roll is open for inspection; and
WHEREAS Wisconsin Statute 70.47 requires that the Board of Review meet annually during a 45-day period starting the 4th Monday of April and no sooner than seven days after the last day of which the assessment roll is open for examination.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of St. Croix Falls, Polk County, Wisconsin, pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 70.45 sets the date of the Open Book in the Town of St. Croix Falls, Polk County, to be held on the 10th day of April, 2025, commencing at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Town Hall; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of St. Croix Falls, Polk County, Wisconsin, pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 70.47 sets the date of the Board of Review for the Town of St. Croix Falls, Polk County, to be held on the 30th day of April, 2025, commencing at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Town Hall; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the clerk will provide notice to the public as required by Wisconsin Statutes 70.45(2).
Priebe/Bergmann moved to adopt Resolution 25-02 approving two additional operator licenses for the year ending June 30, 2025; motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote, 3-0.
Resolution 25-02
A RESOLUTION APPROVING ADDITIONAL OPERATOR’S LICENSES
FOR THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2025
WHEREAS the individuals listed below have made application to the Town Clerk requesting a operator’s license pursuant to Sections 125.32(2) and 125.68(2) of the Wisconsin Statutes for the year ending June 30, 2025, and
WHEREAS the applications appear to be complete and the required fee has been paid;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of St. Croix Falls does approve and grant operator’s licenses to:
Peer, Dawn Marlene 730 170th Street, Osceola, WI 54020; 2025-59
Raymond, Kanessa Joleen 695 Deronda Street, Amery, WI 54001; 2025-60
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Clerk be authorized to issue the licenses as the case may be.
A draft of a letter was reviewed on opposing the proposed amendments to the Polk County shoreland ordinance. Hall/Bergmann moved to approve the letter to Polk County Environmental Committee regarding the Town’s opposition to the proposed amendments to the Polk County Shoreland Ordinance; motion carried. The approved road projects for 2025 were reviewed.
No closing public comment was had.
The February town board meeting will be held on February 19, 2025. There being no further business, Bergmann/Hall moved to adjourn the meeting; motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:09 p.m.
