2026 BUDGET HEARING and 2025 SPECIAL TOWN MEETING – November 19, 2025

 BUDGET HEARING

The hearing on the proposed 2026 budget for the Town of St. Croix Falls was called to order by Chairman Michael Dorsey at 7:25 p.m. on November 19, 2025.  Proper notice was given as notice was posted in the three designated locations of the Town Hall, Not Justa Café and BP on October 31, 2025.  Electors of the town present were Katie Appel, Mike Dorsey, Jeremy Hall and Brent Priebe.  Also present were town clerk/treasurer Janet Krueger, public works employee Steve Jacobs and legal counsel Adam Jarchow.

The chair presented the proposed 2026 budget as recommended by the Town Board.  Reviewed were the highway budget, expenditure budget, and the revenue budget.

The Chair closed the budget hearing at 7:27 p.m.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

A special Town meeting was called to order at 7:27 p.m. by Town Chairman Michael Dorsey on November 19, 2025.  Proper notice was given as notice was posted in the three designated locations of the Town Hall, Not Justa Café and Speedway on October 31, 2025.  The call of the meeting was read.  Electors of the town present were Katie Appel, Mike Dorsey, Jeremy Hall and Brent Priebe.  Also present were legal counsel Adam Jarchow, public works employee Steve Jacobs and town clerk/treasurer Janet Krueger.

Katie Appel moved, seconded by Brent Priebe, to adopt Resolution 2025-01TM approving the 2025 levy to be collected in 2026 in the amount of $838,384 which includes $68,496 for general obligation debt.  The motion carried on a hand vote of 4-0.

RESOLUTION OF TOWN ELECTORS TO ADOPT THE TOTAL TOWN TAX LEVY
AT SPECIAL TOWN MEETING OF TOWN ELECTORS

Whereas, s. 60.10(1)(a) of Wis. Statutes authorizes the town electors of a town to adopt the town tax levy at a town meeting of the electors;

Whereas, a special town meeting of the electors has been called and properly noticed to approve the 2025 total town tax levy (to be collected in 2026), pursuant to s. 60.10(1)(a) Wis. Statutes;

THEREFORE, the special town meeting of the Town of St. Croix Falls, Polk County, Wisconsin, by a majority vote of the eligible electors duly assembled and voting on this 19^th day of November, 2025, hereby resolves and orders as follows:

1. The town electors of the Town of St. Croix Falls, Polk County, Wisconsin adopt the total town tax levy for 2025 (to be collected in 2026) in the amount $838,384 which includes a loan payment of $68,496 for general obligation debt.
2. The town clerk shall properly post or publish this resolution as required by law under s. 60.80(1)(a) Wis. Statutes within 30 days after its adoption.

Katie Appel moved, seconded by Brent Priebe to adjourn the special town meeting; motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
